In 2018, our team sat in a small office, somewhere between tight deadlines and endless brainstorming sessions. We were building products for clients across sectors, but one thing kept popping up: the tech talent pool always pointed to Lagos, Abuja, and sometimes Port Harcourt. That was it.
If you weren’t in those three cities, it felt like the door to opportunities was firmly shut.
But we had bills to pay, clients to serve, and a team to grow. So, we tried something different. We reached out to developers and designers outside the "big three" cities. We worked remotely, found incredible talents, and delivered excellent work, all while keeping costs efficient and staying profitable.
That small pivot? It changed everything.
By 2020, the world had changed too. The global pandemic reshaped work as we knew it. But for us, something else stood out: tech talents were being poached and shuffled between companies like trading cards. And yet, no one was looking into the untapped goldmines, brilliant, trained developers in underserved areas across Nigeria and beyond.
That’s when the idea for ProDevs truly came alive.
We weren’t just building a team anymore, we were building a platform. One that could bridge the gap between skilled African tech talent and real, reliable opportunities, locally and globally.
Since then, over 300 professionals have found full-time and part-time roles through ProDevs. But even that number, as proud as we are of it, only scratches the surface.
Each year, tens of thousands of young Africans graduate from universities. Thousands more complete tech bootcamps. Talent is not the problem, but opportunity, experience, and access still are.
Here’s the reality: many startups, especially in their early stages, can’t offer the kind of high-level challenges that help developers grow fast. So a “senior developer” in one startup may have experience closer to that of a mid-level engineer elsewhere.
We saw that gap, and we tackled it head-on.
At ProDevs, our vetting framework doesn’t just look at your job title. It digs deep into real-world experience. We test, benchmark, and qualify our professionals based on what they can actually do, not just what their résumé says.
Our mission is clear:
To build Africa’s largest, most reliable pool of vetted tech contractors and gig workers.
Right now, we’ve already grown a network of 14,000+ talents, and that number keeps climbing daily.
But beyond the numbers, our vision is about trust.
We want founders and global teams to feel confident sending their jobs to Africa, because they know ProDevs talents will deliver with excellence.
So whether you’re launching your MVP, building a new product, or scaling your engineering team, we’ve built the framework to support you.
