When people talk about Artificial Intelligence (AI), they often focus on automation, efficiency, or the fear that machines might replace human jobs. But in my experience as a Product Manager at ProDevs, I’ve come to see AI differently.

To me, AI is not a replacement; it’s an amplifier. It helps me work smarter, think clearly, and lead more effectively. Over the past few years, it has quietly become one of the most valuable collaborators in my toolkit, allowing me and my team to move faster while staying true to the values that define who we are at ProDevs.

A Partner in Speed and Clarity

In product management, clarity and speed can make or break a project. Whether I’m working on a fintech solution, a talent platform, or an enterprise system, the challenge is often the same: bringing structure and understanding to complex, fast-moving work.

AI has helped me simplify that complexity. Writing Product Requirement Documents (PRDs) used to be a long, manual process. I would spend hours gathering notes from client meetings, sorting through Slack messages, and translating them into coherent documents. Now, I use AI to summarize discussions, highlight recurring themes, and generate initial drafts. It doesn’t think for me; it helps me organize my thinking faster.

That small shift has changed everything. Instead of getting lost in documentation, I can spend more time talking with clients, understanding their business needs, and aligning our team’s goals. The result? Faster product starts, fewer misunderstandings, and happier clients.

Aligning With Our Core Values: IMPACT

At ProDevs, our work is powered by our IMPACT values, and AI has become a natural extension of each one.

Integrity: Using AI responsibly means maintaining trust and transparency, ensuring that every output retains a human touch and incorporates ethical considerations.

Mastery: AI encourages continuous learning. Every time I use it to optimize a workflow or generate a better product report, I’m sharpening my craft and pushing for excellence.

People-First: AI doesn’t replace relationships; it strengthens them. Reducing repetitive tasks gives me time to mentor, support, and truly connect with my team.

Agility & Ownership: AI-powered tools help us act fast and stay accountable. From sprint planning to tracking deliverables, they make it easier for everyone to take ownership of results.

Clarity: Whether it’s visualizing data or crafting concise summaries, AI ensures that our communication is simple, direct, and aligned.

Transformation: Ultimately, AI fuels growth, both personal and organizational. It helps us do more with less and empowers us to make a bigger impact with every project.

Through this lens, I’ve realized that AI doesn’t just fit into our workflow; it reinforces the very culture of ProDevs, a culture that values innovation, discipline, and human-centered leadership.

Enabling Leadership at Scale

Our leadership principles at ProDevs, from communicating clearly to moving fast and owning results, guide how we lead and deliver. AI has become a key enabler in living out those principles.

For example:

When I prepare a product roadmap, I use AI to visualize dependencies and forecast timelines. This helps me communicate clearly and keep stakeholders aligned.

During sprint retrospectives, AI-assisted analytics highlight performance patterns, allowing the team to Demand Excellence by improving one sprint at a time.

In cross-functional teams, AI keeps communication flowing, automatically documenting updates and creating summaries so that we can move fast and own results without losing context.

And because of these efficiencies, I have more time to Be Kind, Be Candid, engaging more deeply with people, offering feedback, and building stronger relationships.

This combination of human leadership and digital assistance creates something powerful: a workflow that’s faster, more focused, and more human.

The Human Side of AI

The misconception is that AI makes work impersonal. But I’ve found the opposite to be true. By handling the repetitive parts of my day, writing drafts, summarizing meetings, and structuring plans, AI gives me time back to focus on people, which is the real heart of product management.

I can spend more time helping a designer clarify their user journey, guiding a developer through a sprint challenge, or simply checking in with a teammate who’s having a tough week. In other words, AI helps me live out the “People-First” value not in theory, but in daily practice.

And it’s not just about productivity; it’s about presence. The more space AI creates, the more intentional I can be about the human elements of leadership,  listening, mentoring, and inspiring.

Moving Forward With Impact

As ProDevs continues to grow, AI will undoubtedly play a bigger role in how we create access, deliver excellence, and drive transformation across Africa’s tech landscape. But at the core, it’s still about people, the ones who imagine, build, and deliver.

For me, AI is not about replacing human potential; it’s about unlocking it. It’s about using technology to amplify creativity, not control it.

And as long as we lead with Integrity, Mastery, People-first thinking, Agility, Clarity, and Transformation, I believe AI will continue to help us deliver impact, faster, smarter, and more meaningfully than ever before.

Because leadership isn’t about doing everything yourself, it’s about creating the environment where great work can happen.

And that’s exactly what AI helps me do, every single day.
