So... you’re scrolling through LinkedIn, tired of applying for gigs you’ll never hear back from?

You’ve polished your CV ten times, applied for roles you’re overqualified for, said “Dear Hiring Manager” more times than you’ve said “Amen” this week, and yet… crickets.

We get it.

Now meet Patrick Mohammed, a Nigerian tech talent like you who was once in that same boat. Getting ghosted by clients on Fiverr. Watching Upwork ban people for “invisible offenses.” Life was lifing.

Then boom, he found ProDevs.
And in just two months, this guy made millions (in naira, please calm down) through gigs on the platform.

Before you say “na luck,” hold on. It wasn’t magic. It was consistency, resilience, and the right platform.

In this honest Q&A, Patrick shares how he went from late-night struggles and gig hunting to being mentored by clients and securing multiple gigs.

Read. Relate. Get inspired. Because if it worked for Patrick, it just might work for you, too.

1. Can you share your journey before discovering ProDevs?

Patrick:
I was on Fiverr, LinkedIn, and Upwork like most freelancers. The competition was mad. I got some gigs on Fiverr, but honestly, the worst happened when clients would ghost me after receiving the job. No payment. No accountability. And Fiverr wouldn’t lift a finger to help.

Then came the scary part—random bans on Fiverr and Upwork for reasons I couldn’t even understand. It felt like I was walking on eggshells.

One day, I saw a gig on LinkedIn, and the link led me to ProDevs. I registered and waited. Took about two years (yeah, two whole years!) and many rejections, but the gig I finally landed changed everything.

2. What was the most exciting or impactful project you’ve worked on through ProDevs?

Patrick:
It was my first gig, and it shook me in a good way, not just financially but mentally and socially, too.

The client was amazing. He didn’t just give me the job and disappear. He mentored me throughout. He’d be available even at 2 AM when I had issues, and we’d troubleshoot together. That kind of support was new to me.

We ended up building a solid relationship and worked on multiple gigs together. It wasn’t just a job; it was a growth opportunity.

3. How would you describe the process of landing a gig on ProDevs?

Patrick:

The unique thing about ProDevs for me is "A Nigerian Product for Nigerians." (And Africans, please.) I love the native feel, like you and the client are very close to each other, you could literally visit them!. I love that an app is this local, at least the clients I've met are the local ones, and I felt at home.

4. What advice would you give to other talents hoping to grow through ProDevs?

Patrick:
First of all, get ready now. ProDevs is still young, and that’s a massive opportunity. When platforms are still growing, that’s when you build your foundation. Straighten your portfolio, be intentional, and start showing up.

Because once it gets big and saturated, the competition will be tougher. Right now, the timing is perfect to grow with the platform.

5. How has ProDevs influenced your long-term career goals?

Patrick:
Omo, my confidence is on another level now. The kind of boost that comes with getting paid for doing what you’re good at? You can’t beat it.

For me, there’s only one direction from here, upward and forward.

Patrick’s story is proof that sometimes, the breakthrough doesn’t come in a flash; it comes from staying ready, trusting the process, and being open to new platforms like ProDevs.

If you’re a tech talent in Nigeria or anywhere in Africa and you’ve been wondering if ProDevs is worth it, now you know. It’s not just worth it, it might just be your turn next.

Want your own ProDevs story?

Listen, Patrick’s story didn’t just happen by luck. It happened because he gave ProDevs a chance. After all, ProDevs was built to work.

At ProDevs, we’re not just matching resumes to jobs or clients to freelancers. We’re building a new system of trust and opportunity, one where African tech talents don’t have to beg for gigs, chase after ghost clients, or deal with cold, overseas platforms that don’t get our reality.

We know what it feels like to be a skilled designer, developer, product manager, or writer and still get ignored or underpaid. We know what it’s like for clients to spend weeks chasing freelancers who overpromise and underdeliver.

That’s why ProDevs is different.

  • You can track your job applications in one place.

  • You’ll find remote and local gigs that align with your skills.
